TMS Therapy for College Students Suffering with Depression and Anxiety

September 5, 2022

If you're a college student struggling with mental health issues, you're definitely not alone. Recently, researchers at Boston University published a study that found that over 60% of students met the criteria for a mental illness between 2020 and 2021. This is double the rate from eight years ago.

Many attribute the rise in depression and anxiety to the Covid-19 pandemic. Forced school closings, limited to no social interaction and uncertainty about their future led to feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety.   But there is hope! TMS has been shown to be an effective treatment for depression in many clinical studies. In fact, 80% of NeuroJust patients have experienced significant improvement in their depression symptoms while 70% achieve complete remission.

What is TMS therapy? TMS stands for transcranial magnetic stimulation. It's a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

  • TMS therapy is non-invasive. Unlike other treatments like ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) or medication, TMS therapy doesn't require any surgery or medication. Instead, it uses a magnetic field to stimulate specific areas of the brain that are involved in mood regulation. This means that you can receive TMS therapy without any of the risks or side effects associated with other treatments.
  • TMS therapy is quick and convenient. Each TMS therapy session typically lasts about 20-30 minutes, and you can receive the treatment in the comfort of our spa-like clinic. You don't have to worry about taking time off from     school or work to receive TMS therapy.
  • TMS therapy is effective. Numerous  studies have shown that TMS therapy can be highly effective at treating mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. In fact, a recent study found that TMS therapy was more effective than placebo at reducing symptoms of depression in college students.
